Scholarships are the most familiar and sought-after type of financial aid. Some scholarships require students to submit a separate application. For others, students are automatically considered when they are accepted for admission to Michigan Tech. If a scholarship is need-based, students must complete their FAFSA to be considered. Michigan Tech Scholarships: Separate Application Required
- The J. Edgar McAllister Scholarship is available for citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
- Application is due by April 1.
- Awards can be up to $15,000.
- The Leinweber Software Scholars Annual Scholarship is available for current undergraduate Computer Science majors who are interested in working in the software industry in Michigan after graduation.
- Application is due by March 1.
- Awards are valued at $10,000.
- The S-STEM Husky PAWS Scholarship is available for Pell-eligible undergraduate students who are majoring in engineering, computing, or physics programs.
- Application and essay are due by March 1.
- Awards can be up to $15,000 per year for undergraduate students, and up to $20,000 per year for students pursuing a master's degree.
- The Michigan Tech National Merit Scholarship is available for incoming first-year undergraduate students who are National Merit Finalists and have selected Michigan Tech as their first-choice university.
- Awards can up to $2,000 per year.
- Sponsored scholarships are created through the generosity of individuals and organizations for incoming or continuing students.
- For most sponsored scholarships, all students are automatically considered for the awards for which they are eligible. But there are some sponsored scholarships that require a separate application.
- The Michigander Scholars Program is available for Michigan Tech students who meet the eligibility criteria.

- Awards can be up to $10,000.
Michigan Tech Scholarships: Automatic Consideration
Michigan Residents
- Presidential Scholars Program awards are available to incoming first-year undergraduate students who are Michigan residents.
- Students are automatically considered for these awards after they are accepted for admission to Michigan Tech.
- Awards can range from $1,000 up to $5,500 per year.
- The Michigan Tech Transfer Scholarship is available for incoming undergraduate transfer students who are Michigan residents and have earned 12 or more college level credits after high school graduate.
- Students are automatically considered for these awards after they are accepted for admission to Michigan Tech.
- Awards can range from $2,000 up to $4,000.
- The Michigan Alumni Legacy Award is available for incoming first-year and transfer undergraduate students who are Michigan residents and are the children or grandchildren of Michigan Tech graduates.
- Students may indicate their eligibility through the admission application process.
- Eligible students first enrolling at Michigan Tech for the fall 2023 semester will receive awards for $1,000 per year.
- The 906 Scholarship is available for incoming undergraduate students who are residents of the Upper Peninsula.
- Students are automatically considered for these awards after they are accepted for admission to Michigan Tech.

Non-Michigan Residents
- National Scholars Program awards are available to incoming first-year undergraduate students who are non-Michigan US residents.
- Students are automatically considered for these awards after they are accepted for admission to Michigan Tech.
- Awards can range from $11,000 up to $18,000 per year for students first enrolling for fall 2026.
- The National Transfer Scholarship is available for incoming undergraduate transfer students who are non-Michigan US residents and have earned 12 or more college level credits after high school graduate.
- Students are automatically considered for these awards after they are accepted for admission to Michigan Tech.
- Awards can range from $5,000 up to $10,000.
- The Alumni Legacy Award is available for incoming undergraduate students who are non-Michigan residents and are the children or grandchildren of Michigan Tech graduates.
- Students may indicate their eligibility through the admission application process.
- Award grants recipients the Michigan resident tuition rate (valued over $20,000 per year).
- The Military Family Education Award is available for incoming first-year undergraduate students who are non-Michigan residents and are the child or spouse of an active duty service member of a Uniformed Service.

- The College of Business Dean’s Award is available for incoming undergraduate students who are non-Michigan residents and are pursuing a major in the College of Business at Michigan Tech.
- Students are automatically considered for these awards after they are accepted for admission to Michigan Tech.
- Awards can range from $2,000 up to $20,000 per year.
- The College Partners Pathway Award is available for undergraduate, non-Michigan resident transfer students from Northcentral Technical College, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, and the six campuses of Minnesota North College.
- Students are automatically considered for these awards after they are accepted for admission to Michigan Tech.
- The value of the award is equal to the difference between nonresident and resident tuition—more than $22,000 per year.
- The International Ambassador Scholarship is available for incoming first-year undergraduate students who are citizens and residents of countries other than the United States.

- The Air Force ROTC Scholarship is available for students in the Air Force ROTC program.
- An application may be required.
- Awards are variable and may include the cost of tuition, a monthly living stipend, and an annual book stipend.
- AmeriCorps Education Awards are available for students who serve as AmeriCorps members.
- Students must submit an application to be considered.
- Awards are variable.
- The Army ROTC Scholarship is available for students in the Army ROTC Program.
- An application may be required.
- Awards are variable and may include the cost of tuition, a monthly living allowance, and an annual allowance for books and fees.
- Athletic Grants are awarded based on athletic excellence to students selected by Michigan Tech coaches to participate in varsity athletics.
- Awards are variable up to the value of full-time tuition and fees, room and board, and a book allowance.
- The Create Your Success Scholarship is available for undergraduate students based on both merit and financial need.
- Eligible students are automatically considered for the scholarship.
- The amount of the award is variable.
- The Detroit Promise is available for incoming first year undergraduate students who lived in Detroit, attended a high school in Detroit all four years of high school, and graduated from a high school in Detroit. Students must also have a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

- Awards cover the cost of tuition and fees after other financial aid is applied.
- The Michigan Achievement Scholarship is available for undergraduate students who are Michigan residents and have an SAI from their FAFSA of 30,000 or less.
- Every year, students must complete their FAFSA and inform the State of Michigan they plan to attend Michigan Tech to be considered.
- Awards are up to $5,500 per year.
- The Michigan Children of Veterans Tuition Grant is available for students who are Michigan residents and who are the child of a Michigan veteran that died or became totally and permanently disabled as a result of military service.
- Students must submit an application and complete their FAFSA to be considered.
- Awards can range between $1,400 up to $2,800 per year.
- The Michigan Competitive Scholarship is available for undergraduate students who are Michigan residents and meet both academic merit and financial need requirements.
- Every year, students must have their FAFSA on file by March 1 and inform the State of Michigan they plan to attend Michigan Tech to be considered.
- Awards are up to $1,500 per year.
- The Michigan Fostering Futures Scholarship is available for students who are Michigan residents, experienced foster care in Michigan on or after age 13, and demonstrate financial need.

- The Michigan Indian Tuition Waiver is available for Native American students who are Michigan residents and meet the State of Michigan’s eligibility criteria.

- The Michigan National Guard State Tuition Assistance Program is available for students who are eligible Michigan National Guard service members.
- Students must submit an application to be considered.
- Students may be reimbursed up to $14,400 per year for their tuition and mandatory fees.
- The Michigan Tuition Incentive Program (TIP) is available for undergraduate students who are Michigan residents and were eligible Medicaid recipients prior to high school graduation. Both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of TIP are available at Michigan Tech for eligible students.
- Every year, students complete their FAFSA and inform the State of Michigan they plan to attend Michigan Tech to be considered.
- Awards for students eligible for TIP Phase 1 can be up to the cost of their full-time undergraduate tuition.
- Awards for students eligible for TIP Phase 2 can be up to $500 per semester.
- The NACME Block Grant Scholarship is available for incoming first-year, current second-year, and current junior students who meet the eligibility criteria.
- Students who meet the eligibility criteria are automatically considered for this scholarship.
